Hobgoblin Halloween Special

I’m a massive fan of Wychwood brewery. Hobgoblin Ruby is an absolute staple beer that everyone should love. Their newer Hobgoblin IPA is absolutely fantastic! A great big wallop of juicy citrus married with just the right amount of dry hops. Hobgoblin Gold is a great session beer and I’ve enjoyed a few party kegs of this. Now the premier end of the Hobgoblin is the Imperial Ruby beer, the King Goblin. This takes the original masterpiece and turbo charges it like the original Hobgoblin character has been working out in the gym for 10 years!

Now, as the unofficial beer of Halloween, Hobgoblin has taken it to the next level this year. What do you pair a great beer with at Halloween… Snacks, yes…. But let’s go more wicked…. more Bushtucker Trial….

For 2020, Wychwood have teamed up with restaurateur James Ramsden to create a special INSECT rich menu which was served at his restaurant, Pidgin, in London. Guests were blindfolded to enjoy the food in the dark…

…. The experiment was a roaring success and it’s now turned into something that the rest of us can enjoy at home. Enter the Beer & Big Snack Pack!

Having tried these pairings myself, I can honestly say they will definitely liven up your Halloween Party! I tried the crickets out on the kids first to be safe brilliant dad moment. But the flavours are nice and the texture is kinda like a wafer. It’s well worth using the blindfold first time so that you don’t chicken out but once you’ve tried it and you know you’ve done it once you’ll start poppin them down like Pringles.

Best of all, you get to swill those grasshoppers down with some fantastic British beer

Happy Halloween….!
